GMUN...YOUth can make a difference

Welcome to Gateway Model United Nations (GMUN)

Gateway Model United Nations, offers youths/students the unique opportunity to contribute to the making of a better world.

GMUN… YOUth can make a difference.

Model UN Programs are a great way for youths/students of all ages to learn about International relations and to gain a better sense of what a varied and fascinating world we live in. They also are a perfect "hands on" way to gain experience with basic skills - such as communication, negotiation tactics, and conflict prevention -- that we all need in our day-to-day lives.
Like every other model United Nations, Gateway Model United Nations (GMUN) simulates the diplomacy of the many forums of united nations.

Taking on the role of an ambassador to the UN, participants experience the complexities of international policy formation at first hand. Each delegate represents the viewpoint of a single Member State of the United Nations or non-governmental organisation (NGO), researching that country’s or NGO’s policy and advocating these views to other delegates.

GMUN aims to develop transferable skills essential to all fields of study and employment including: strong leadership, initiative and expertise in public speaking; negotiation, mediation and consensus building; and the ability to form relationships rapidly with people of alternative backgrounds and viewpoints.

Once every year, hundreds youth and students come together under the ambience of GMUN in to explore issues of world importance, learn, share, get empowered in an exciting atmosphere that seeks to develop their leadership potential and challenge them to be catalysts for change, starting from their communities and world at large.

GMUN seeks to build an understanding of global challenges amongst young people that crosses borders of background, culture and nationality. Using both the knowledge and the relationships they form through GMUN, it is hoped that that young people will be inspired, empowered and challenged to be catalysts for change, an emerging generation of future world leaders and thinkers that will be able to work co-operatively to find solutions to future global problems that are compatible with the aims and principles of the United Nations.

Welcome to the future today!

We seek to create a platform where young people can be inspired, empowered and challenged to contribute positively to the building of a better world.
